Relaxed Friday

Here is a tip to start you relaxed Friday just right:
if you happen to be in a place like me, where it is simply to hot to bake a cake or make a batch of muffins like any good Friday would deserve you can do this:
Take a brioche, croissant or other backed good; take the (in my case brittle) chocolate out of the fridge; put in the sun for two and a half minutes... put on the brioche and volá: chocolate goodie to start the weekend with. To serve with cold cafè.

I know this was wisdom itself.
Have a very beautiful, summery weekend!!

Relaxed Friday

Maybe you have guessed so far, but in case you missed it: I´m a picture person. Yes. Like sooo bad!
Often I used to collect images with no specific goal in mind. Now this has changed ever since I picked up a camera and decided to make something bigger out out of it. But every now an then (read: every single day) I collect images, to let my thoughts wander. And to take in the feeling. The way a picture makes me feel.

Maybe you are also into creative things.
The images from the little collage are not from me but I like them tremendously. For all different reasons.

Relaxed Friday ~ Installing a heating system and overflowing bins

In late November my two roomies and I got a new heating system installed.
If you want really valuable domestic advice, here it is: NEVER change heating systems during cold season! You already knew that? Well, ok, now you know for sure ;-) I´ve test run it.

So while we were without heating and warm water for a couple of days during a  bizarre cold winter week, there have also been some funny moments in that week. One was involving our Landlord. He was in the kitchen with me looking at our bins. He was going something like, Oh this is a clear sign of a guy-free-home the bins are overflowing. I was like whaaaat?!? And on the verge of protesting. But as he left after the day´s work was done he asked me if he should take down our trash. I was like no, never, please! He was already out of the door, holding the yellow bags in his hands. No worries, this is what we guys do, we take down the trash.

Grateful and with a smile on my face my weekend had begun.
May yours be as sweet as that small moment.
A simple gesture and a smile (and maybe an elephant?)

Relaxed Friday

Today I have no words of wisdom or beauty for you.
It´s a cold wintery Friday and we are about to have our own  little party tonight. Just the roommates. While I run around the apartment, throw around paper, ribbons, lights and the such one of my roomies is stuck in her last exam session.

So here is to a jolly mix of creative chaos and study atmosphere at home:

Relaxed Friday

It´s October friends!
Today October hit full force. The wind was so stormy that some moments during the evening walk I thought I might be lifted off the ground. Or worse Mara... her long ears dangling dangerously in the wind.

After staring into the fast moving clouds till we all felt dizzy and a new-wave-hair-make-over on my side we climbed down the hill. On my way home I found a walnut tree and thus, oh happy, collected some walnuts. I felt a bit like Scratch (Ice Age) just that I did not hammer my front teeth into the glacier.

Now I wish you the nicest octoberish kind of weekend and hope my walnuts taste good even without being chased across the icebergs.

There are rain coats for everything! :)

Relaxed Friday ~ White Tea Drink

It was the evening before I drove to Germany for one of my last weddings. I was running through all of Siena, because I wanted to find a crystal, bling or what ever big chunk manageable, which could reflect some light. I had seen something new in one of my workshops and was desperate to try this reflection thingy. After a good dozens of shops and a handful of very puzzled shop owners I stopped at the second hand store in my street. I had pocked in innumerable amount of times and was happy to see the owners face. As I explained my quest she was she once more looked back helpless. As I told her for what I was needing this weird items she was interested right away. Oh, a photographer! Paolo did you hear that? She turned to her friend sitting on the step to her little shop playing with her daughter. His tiny eyes blinked to me from under a funny hat and they quizzed me about the projects I was doing.

Relaxed Friday

It was late at night and my soon-to-be sister and I were on our way home. We passed by a Gelateria and as my eyes fell on all the chairs and tables left outside well past closing hours I thought by myself… how stupid are they?! People are so naive. One split second later it crossed my mind that I am not in Italy anymore and that leaving all the chairs outside at night is what people do around here… I am soooo slow. Haha.
I am just saying that not even park benches where safe at times… (from not being carried away, or into someone’s home)

SOOO here is to a new relaxed Friday!

Have a great weekend wherever you are!

Very true this one:

Relaxed Friday

This week was all about packing, panicking, driving, unpacking, coming home, leaving again and getting settled in.
One thing I instantly appreciated was the German Autobahn! Nothing like it! But staring at the countryside for the better part of a day some days back I realized how organized the fields, trees and even the woods seem. Oh my. It´s going to take some time to arrive fully back in this country of accurateness, but who said it´s gonna be easy. :)

As I left home and prepared for the next wedding (YAY!) Mom came hurrying after me and asked, Do you have enough shoes? Three pairs will do for one day, right? Haha.

So here is a new Relaxed Friday for you!

Me on the first day in Germany:

Always wear your sunglasses!

Relaxed Friday

Many times I have hinted at the medieval flair still clinging to this tiny town called Siena. Besides a city wall which is dividing the outer part of the city and an inner, of course more pure, noble part of the city... besides the ancient Contrade (neighborhoods)... even some people behave medieval. As it happened to occur one night, my good friend Alex was walking home. I want to stress the walking. She was not standing under some window and making a whole lot of noise, no she was moving. And just this moment someone threw water out of the window and right on her. I could not believe my ears as she told me what just happened to her! No way! Are you freakin´ kidding me?!?! Are you still throwing water out of your windows? How many years has the pluming be installed around here?!?!
NO this cannot be, however, many Sienese people don´t care about the things which cannot be.
So here is the second installment of relaxed Friday.

Have a fabulous one!

June 22, 2012

One good reason never to leave Tuscany again would be the guests. And let me tell you I LOVE having guests. It seems everybody would love to come and visit to breathe in some southern air, tan a little in the sun and inhale this rhythm of life. During the last four days I had the luxury of having four Italian wheels under my bud and be able to witness a new freedom. To drive and stop where ever it pleased my heart. Really? The addition of a car would be perfection. But me on these wheels in the marvelous Tuscan country side… me on four wheels, during sunset and golden hour… saying it was dangerous would put it mildly. I basically hopped from one park niche to the next… at times to slow, at times to quick, at times I pulled the car over “al improvviso” to suddenly. I was constantly on the hunt for pictures and impressions, I saw people posing in my mind. Aawww, was the only word leaving my mouth for what seemed a loooong time.

I think it would be so much safer to simply do a photo session during the golden hour. So if you are close by or even a little farther away and would love some amazing new pictures. Let me know! Shoot me a mail. Call me. I think I have an idea where to go!!!! ;-)

Now enough of me scaring the death out of the Tuscans last night… I had this idea for a new series. Please tell me if you like it or not (in the comments below). To start the weekend in a worthy way with Relaxed Friday.
