Schloss Weikersheim Wedding

As the new winter semester had started, we all met for the first time on a Tuesday night with Campus (Connect in Würzburg).
Little did I guess that the same night two lives were changed. From the first glance & sentence he was hooked. He charmingly persisted to keep the conversation coming and somehow the they chatted late after all had left. Just from the first meeting nothing was the same anymore.

Then I received the most charming mail in my inbox & decided to travel to Würzburg to meet  them in person. From the first conversation to the last line of the wedding party I felt the appreciation of my photography like seldom before. You are such a dream to be around and to photograph! When you mentioned that portraits are the most important images I could not believe my luck & silently had a cupcake party in my head over the locations & day planning you had spread before me.

Winter Wedding in Jena, Thüringen

It started as a quiet day. With the first expectant look out of the window. Checking whether the snow was heavy or light. The streets free of ice. You see, this wonderful wedding day started in a fortress on a hill not far from my first home.

I just happily loved each and every single moment of this day! The frosting on each tree, the lanes leading up the hills, the jaw-dropping elegant bride, their happy faces during the first dance, all the friends and family assembled.

Golden Woods Wedding

It was pouring down so hard, that I decided to camp out in the car the entire hour before the ceremony would begin.
I had just checked out the fields & wood near by & jogged back to the tiny vehicle for shelter.

I knew how fond both the bride & groom were of outdoor photos & check the rain radar app for the third time in sixty minutes.
All the way through the emotion-overflowing vows the rain hammered on the roof of the top floor city hall.

Just after those most wonderful words had been pronounced and all the dearest been held close, the sky timidly cleared the way & we began shooting in a damp, soaked, perfect wood. I mean think magical with fairy dust on every tree.

Wedding Shooting with Katharina & Andy

We met at an advanced English Grammar class. Heck that one did not work out for me... as the careful reader will have already noticed.
Then again, some things work out in different ways.
For example this lovely lady getting engaged before the last years summer was out.

Walking in the mist ~ first mini workshop

On my shy and quiet list of silent dreams this year, there was this one item. Yeah, it contained paying forward some of the many things I had learned and soaked in, in this photography industry. I was shy about it because I thought I had not learned enough, did not know enough. Just not enough to give it and to explain, might even teach. SO this inquiry came the at right time. I knew the group and peeps and somehow this helped to overcome the insecurity. So one misty Saturday not long ago we met up, walked outside, explored with the lenses in front of our eyes. Of course these ninety minutes were way to short. But it was lovely. It was great to give something. It was a start!
I hope there is more to come. From giving and paying forward. From learning from each other.

So here are some of the favorites from walking in the mist. In the dark and gray. From winter in Germany.
If I might be honest I thought this was a very poetic kind of gray. Of dark and of making other colors pop beside the settled dust on the lake.

A wish list ~ Dreams are part of the business

Dreams are scary at times. especially the big ones, the ones which excite you to the point you would not tell someone about them. Because, lets say it, they scare the friggin´daylight out of you...

Wedding photography was a dream like this once. I did not tell friends or family as this crazy spark had jumped my mind and lit a fire. I held it to myself, till one day I sat in an attic surrounded by old and new found friends and someone turned to me and said, why not? Why not do it.
Slowly I found courage to say wishes out loud and slowly these dreams were followed by actions. Of course, this was a long road. Months and years had been ticked of the calender.

Reading across the photography bloggosphere I realize, we all have these dreams and some write them out loud. Some share and light new sparks and fires along the way.
AND I understand dreams are part of the business.

Laura & Jakob

We met on a misty Monday and our  shooting started with a Mini-van trip up the vineyard. I had already heard stories from this wonderful antique car and was very happy that Laura and Jakob decided to bring it along. I was even more happy about a very gorgeous pair of red boots (yay) and a wonderful combination of very dark and elegant blue. It´s like they wanted to make me tremendously happy with my brand colors. :)

Ordering Canvass

As Christmas was drawing nearer I was thinking about something special to give to my clients as a surprise Thank you. You know, to let them know how much they mean to me and how much I enjoyed working with them for their weddings. The canvass I chose was from Lena´s & Simeon´s wedding, which you can find here and here
This was hands down my fist time ordering canvasses and I was a bit nervous about the quality of the product, the colors and everything. So today I wanted to share with you that it was an overall surprise for me how very much I enjoyed to see the finished product. On.A.Canvass! Wow. So cool.

Glimpses from ~ Behind the lens

Since my friends Lena and Simeon knew how much I would love to have some images from Behind the lens, from the hustle and bustle and me at work... they were kind enough to shoot some images my way. Those following were taken by friends. Really cool!!

Thank you ever so kindly.

Announcement

As some of you might have noticed, I vanished for ten days from the blogosphere. Busy trying to figure out my new place and life in general.  The exciting days of settling back in or starting new.

But today I wanna share something else with you:

Behind the lens ~ Whats in my bag?

The raindrops outside my office are quietly sliding down and since some time now I´m marveling about how to start out this post. Today the drops are not banging against the window, they are quiet, almost secretive and I am listening to something… Friday I´m in love and I think I just want to get the  muffins in the oven. Since you know it´s Friday. Which means muffin time. :)
